Hans Reiser, the guy who started the ReiserFS project was arrested under suspicion of murdering his wife …
Just shows that even in the altruistic ub3r geeks there is bad apples.

My phone server Magi, died yesterday
It appears the power supply fan went, and since i’ve had “shutdown issues” with it before, I saw it had been down for 17 hours two days ago, and I just powered it off, flushed it then powered it back on, never inspecting the PSU.
Now it looks to be long gone, I’ve put the hard drive and the digium TDM card into another box, but it runs like crap on there.
I remember my first post, it was a nice crisp spring day, the sun was shining, and i’m full of crap.
I remember when I started this, my goal was to “put back in what I take out” of the Internet, sorta living “Internet Neutral”
It’s kinda good to see that 5 people in the month of October (so far) have gained something from my site.

I build myself a new machine yesterday, and I feel so warm over the bragging rights I have now
I bought an Armor Jr (damned american spelling) Thermaltake, which i’ll post seperately about, an Athlon 64 x2 4200+ 65w, 2gb of Corsair PC-6400 Pro with the wanky Activity LEDs, an ABIT Fatal1ty AN9 32x, and a Gigabyte 7600GT
I know it isn’t bleeding edge, but most of the parts are bang-for-buck or “pricepoint” items (most speed/space/wankyness for the $ infested [sic])
For those that actually read this (there are one or two of you) if you read back into the archives, or followed this since the start, you’ll know that I made this site as a catalogue of interesting information, easier for me to keep a log of what I found interesting or may need to search up on again later.I tried a wiki back before I started this, but I found it too large for what I wanted. Now what I want is larger than a log can provide
I have created a wiki, where I am posting all my “articles” on specific setups and information, I’ll still post information on here, but most of the hardcore articles (well judge as you may) will be wiki-fied, eg my favorite latest one is APC Master Switch SNMP Control as I just got that masterswitch working at home (and the array of them at work)
Sweeet.
I have moved from b2evolution to wordpress.
This has mucked about alot of my setup as there isn’t any good/working b2evo cvs to wordpress converters.
I’m just sick of over 2000 comments advertising crap on my web log.
So simple. but it just works.
It stops computers from jumping their way in and is alot easier than most of those “type the combinations” that are hard to read even for human eyes.
I might give this a go on the next bb I setup.
I sat here thinking “well my password has upper, lower, numbers and extended characters, it’s 18 letters long and they’re all random”
Woohoo Gman won’t crack my accounts !!!
Then again, they probably have simpler backdoors … and then they read this and now have an idea of my password.
EEEEP
*run and hide*
This is pretty cool, I like the idea, but as one commenter said, a person flying on it would be very uncomfortable.
I think it might not work too well in practise as well, but I guess we’ll see.
