Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I also received my Vol 1 of Full Metal Panic : TSR and my new issue of NewTypeUSA

Full Metal Alchemist

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

after being recommended the series from a friend, I borrowed his set of DVD’s and set in for a LONG nights watch … well it was after work for about 3 days straight, with very little sleep, but give me my artistic license.

This series was great.

I love Bleach and Naruto, but they’re so very very long, it’s daunting. (and the Dub of Naruto … WHAT WERE YOU THINKING !!!) this was a complete arc, start to finish 51 episodes. (and a DVD that has been released in the US but not here yet, hurry up madman !)

I’ll probably write a bit more later, but overall I enjoyed it, I even watched it dubbed instead of subbed, and I wasn’t prone to violent outbursts like when I see naruto dubbed.

Edit: Check out the Wikipedia Article for more info in the mean time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_metal_alchemist

Damn that Shishio !

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

They’ve just left the Aoiya for the final fight with Shishio.

I love the fights with Anji, Usui, Soujiro, Aoshi and Shishio.

So basically all of them :P

Oh and I laugh my butt off at Kamatari.
Especially her comments at the start of the fight.

Kenshin Again

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

I got up to the part where he just broke his reverse bladed sword.

I like the duality between his selves, how he is on one hand the wanderer, who could have been a farmer (see the OVA), on the other hand he is a bloodthirsty maniac.

Later on when he meets his master again it gets explained better, as his battousai side is just anger with no will to live, so he must finally have a will to live to master the hiten mitsurugi style.

I also laughed my ass off at saito calculating the animal of misao

“Megumi —> Fox”
“Kaoru —> Racoon”
“Misao —> …”

“Weasel ?”

Kenshin Reminders

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Dammit.

After talking about my favorite anime, I remembered Kenshin.

I cleaned up and found the OVA DVD’s, I’m going to have to do a stocktake of my DVD’s again (I have a barcode scanner just for this) But I started watching Kenshin again.

I’m up to the battle between Kenshin and Saito again.

I LOVE this battle, you get to see the real difference between his two aspects, the one half of the wanderer, and the other of the manslayer.

Pity we don’t get to see this ever again after his re-training :(

Vandread

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

Ok, This is the last on my list of all time favorites.

This series is hard to explain and I could never do it justice, I loved the intro music to the second series I think it was.

eheh, Vandread Pyoro !

Hence, if you look at the name of my home primary router/mail server/etc, I called it Vandread.

Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X)

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

If you have a look at my online DVD list, you’ll see I have all the way up to the end of the shishio saga (where the anime and the manga diverge) which is basically where I like to watch it up to.

This was my second or third favorite, I can’t quite remember if Saber Marionette J was before this or after this.

*shrug*

I have the “In Memories” CD I bought and I listen to it EVERYWHERE, my favorite song of all time is “War of the last wolves” purely for the recollection of the fight at the end of the second episode of the OVA, I can’t find the DVD at the moment or I’d take some screenshots and some audio to show you.

nevertheless, I loved the OVA, the series and the extras.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

Don’t ask me why I created a category for this, but after saying “Saber Marionette J was one of my all time favorites” I felt a need to include two more.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was the series that hooked me on anime, I watched it when I was but a teenager and the complexity and the arguments you could have over its interpretation were amazing.

I used the “hang around” in the #evangelion channel on austnet, was even an Operator for quite a while, only after the advent of IM’s that were more than crap did IRC start to die.

Now IRC and Newsgroups are left behind by the scholars and purely for the trading of warez and pr0n

Saber Marionette J

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

One of my all time favorite animations, I thought I might put up some info on each one.

I just rewatched this and everytime I watch it it just makes me feel a little happy. I laugh at Lime and her antics, Cherry and just how much she day dreams, and Bloodberry on how serious she can be.

Of course Hanagata kinda weirds me out, but I like how especially in the last half of the series he’s on screen for about 20 seconds then gets punched off into the wild blue yonder by one of the marionettes.
